Why Vietnam

New Page 1

Vietnam is becoming a top preference for offshoring and software outsourcing. There are many compelling reasons as to why Vietnam is an ideal destination to either put into effect a multisourcing strategy or set up an ODC.

Vietnam's young, strong and diverse talent pool

The size and skill of Vietnam's talent pool has barely been tapped. The Vietnamese Government is mobilizing this resource and having identified software as one of favored industries is proactively supporting the software outsourcing industry. National schools for software training have been set up and the number of graduates from Vietnamese universities with degrees in IT, computer sciences, and software engineering is growing year on year. In addition, Vietnamese primary education emphasizes science, math and logic providing a solid base for later training.

Vietnamese government support

A decree to build and develop country's software is signed in 2000. The government has kept import duties on IT product low and has introduced a set of tax and other incentives for IT companies.

Cost effective

With Vietnam, the cost of project is lower than the counterparts from the other popular outsourcing countries such as India, China, Russia, Romania, etc.

Multisourcing improves results

As outsourcing becomes a strategic operating policy for an increasing number of companies so organizations are looking to outsource to two or more destinations. A second outsourcing destination has many benefits; it diversifies the geopolitical risk, companies can increase their negotiating power amongst service providers and it prevents a company becoming beholden to a single vendor.
